Captain’s Log: Day Fourteen

My dearest Luna,

If you look at the stars long enough, it starts to feel like they are looking back. As I traveled through the Milky Way Galaxy today, I thought a lot about perspective. At home, gazing upward at the smudge of stars in the sky, I was aware of my insignificance but the stars, too, seemed small. Here among the stars I am truly just a tiny speck. Up close, they are much bigger.

The same is true of all things, I suppose. Just think of our daily problems – all so big to us because we are close. From a distance, though, it is no wonder others are not as concerned. That’s the power of empathy. To get close to others and understand the scale of what they see.
